A Ship Across the Ban
Stand upon the shore, look out upon the sea,
See the light of Valinor, a light not meant for me...
Yea, ye have the passage free, a ship across the Ban,
I would that it could carry me, yet I am but a man...
The sorrows of the Elves it seems, are deeper then mine owne,
And yet does not my heart compare? When parted from a home?
Take me with you I doth pray, when my love for Earth is end,
Leave me here to die my doom, I still would call thee friend...
Harken on the sea that calls the tides of Elvish souls,
Yet I feel the tug of yon, when sea and thunder rolls...
I stand upon the shore and watch with bitter eyes and heart,
the friend who builds an Elvish ship, to take her leave and part...
Take me with you, I doth pray, for comfort is nae here,
A ship across the Ban I pray, or wings to keep you near...
A ship across the Ban I pray, a ship I may not sail,
For life upon the Earth will end, for me when light doth fail...
A Ship across the Ban...
